Hi. My name is Tally Harmon and I am starting this blog because I wanted a way to share all the great information I learn from school, experiences, people, etc. with others regarding family life and relationships. I am majoring in Marriage, Family, and Human Development, so most of this site will consist of papers and assignments I've had to do for school. I really hope all who come across this site will find some benefit and will apply what they learn, especially those I care about most - my family and friends.

I hope you will take the time to learn and be enlighted, and I hope you will take the time to help others do the same by sharing this site or what you learn from this site with them.

Sincerely,

T. Harmon

4 Reasons to Say Something about That Raunchy Magazine at Your Grocery Store

The following are four reasons why pornography, especially soft-core pornography like that which may be found on magazine racks at regular grocery store check-outs can be harmful.

 1.     The images or writing can act as a trigger to those already struggling with inappropriate sexual behavior. Or, it can lead others to get involved in this type of behavior as a result of curiosity or enticement. Sexual crimes such as rape or associated with pornography.
2.  The images or writing can give children and adults false ideas and expectations about sexual intimacy or about their own self-image (hence the growing problem we have with anorexia, bulimia, and depression in girls). These false expectations can cause tension in or even divide a marriage.
3. The images or writing can expose children to material they are not ready for. This can inhibit proper, normal sexual development.
4.  The images or writing can desensitize a community, thus making it easier for more explicit material to make its way through our store’s check-outs, billboards, or movies. This, again, can lead to the problems addressed in points 1 and 2 above.
